Favorite Recipe: French 75 Cocktail from Arnaud’s
Ingredients:
1 ½ ounce cognac
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
¼ tsp. simple syrup (see recipe)
Champagne as needed, about 4 ounces
Twist of lemon
Preparation:
Place the cognac, lemon juice and simple syrup in a shaker filled with ice and shake only long enough to chill. Pour into a frosted champagne tulip glass, top with champagne and add a lemon twist. Serve immediately. Makes 1 cocktail.
Simple Syrup Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1 cup of water
Preparation:
In a small saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water in a ration of two to one and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir and simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 3 minutes. Cool to room temperature before using, and store any unused syrup in the refrigerator. It will keep almost indefinitely. |
