New Orleans author, designer, and magazine editor, Bev Church is as comfortable creating an evening gala for a major corporation as she is appearing on national and local television programs as an expert on entertaining.
Mrs. Church travels throughout the United States lecturing on all facets of entertaining and has educated and delighted regional and national television audiences on hundreds of programs in cities all over the United States from Good Morning America to Home and Garden Television (HGTV). She is the Executive Editor of St. Charles Avenue magazine in New Orleans for over 15 years and produces an entertaining column for the magazine. After graduating from Tulane University's Newcomb College and teaching in public schools, Mrs. Church began raising a family and quickly became involved in civic and charitable activities. It was through these ventures that she developed her decorating skills and her love for entertaining. “It really is a gift you give to your friends and entertaining is supposed to be fun.” Mrs. Church was co-owner of a flower and party decoration shop and is currently the owner of Entertaining Celebrations, LLC, which produced her last two books. She designs show-stopping centerpieces in collaboration with artists Luis Colmenares and Julia Yerkov. Her concept is to save time and money by using her centerpieces with flowers and foliage from your own garden. Mrs. Church's imagination and personal style makes her a sought-after lecturer on successful entertaining. Her presentations, accented by slides and demonstration tables, are known to mesmerize her audiences with enthusiasm, energy and a visual feast of unique and magical ideas. As a civic activist, Mrs. Church has played an important leadership role with improving New Orleans. She has been involved in the restoration of New Orleans City Park, New Orleans Public Schools, teaching Sunday School for over 20 years and has volunteered with and helped raise funds for the Edible Schoolyard at the Samuel J. Green Charter School. She is on the executive committee of The Women of the Storm whose focus is to bring leaders in the public and private sector to see the devastation and revitalization of the Gulf Coast Region post Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and the Deep Water Horizon oil spill. Mrs. Church is an active member of the Garden Club of America as well as a sustaining member of the Junior League – she received the Sustainer of the Year Award in 2009. She has been married to Dr. John Church for over forty-five years, has two wonderful daughters-in-law and five darling grandchildren. |
